THE PUMP OF HEART

Posted by admin March - 25 - 2009 - Wednesday ADD COMMENTS

It is unimaginable to  understand how emotion controls this vital organ! Yet this is vital! Now lets get into something regarding the functioning of heart.

The heart is made up of cardiac muscle fibres and  has four chambers. The two upper ones called auricles and the two bottom one called ventricles. The valve between the right auricle and ventricle is tricuspid valve and that between the left ones is bicuspid. There are also two other valves, namely, the pulmonic and the aortic valves.

The left auricle receives de-oxygenated blood from other parts of the body through the inferior and superior vena cavae. Then this blood is pushed into the left ventricle by the contraction of the left auricle. Then, by, ventricular contraction this blood is taken by pulmonary artery to the lungs for purification of blood.

Then, the purified blood is brought back into the right auricle via four pulmonary veins. Then, by auricular contraction, this blood is moved down to the right ventricle. From there, the pure blood is transported to different parts of the body through the aorta and its branches.

A rhythmic functioning of the heart is very vital for survival. Average heart beats per minute is 72. Nutritious food and the correct exercises increase the life time of heart. So, take care of this life saving organ for a long and healthy life.

Go Green with WIND MILLS

Posted by admin March - 19 - 2009 - Thursday ADD COMMENTS

When we were children, we would have wondered what these big fans are. But now we come to know that these wind mills are not fans which consume power but fans which generate power. There are two types of wind turbines. one is HAWT and the other is VAWT.

WInd Energy

WInd Energy

HAWT is Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine and VAWT is Vertical Axis Wind Turbine. HAWT has the main rotor shaft and electrical generator at the top of a tower. And it must be pointed into the wind.VAWT is Vertical Axis Wind Turbine and the main rotor shaft is arranged vertically and there is no need for it to be pointed into the wind. The main parts of a wind turbine are gearbox, rotor shaft and break assembly.

The number of blades in a wind mill always has to be an odd number and not an even number. This is because, if it is even, the wind mill is at the risk of being toppled when there is heavy wind. So for stability reasons, this is mandatory. The amount of wind power produced depends on the speed of the wind. Low speed winds are not an encouraging sign. The higher the speed of the winds, the higher the amount of power generated.

The world’s largest wind turbines are produced by north German companies Enercon and REpower. The Enercon E-126 delivers a power of 6MW and REpower 5M delivers upto 5 MW. At present in India the total wind power generated is about 4500 MW and it amounts to about 2 percent of the country’s total power production.

Wind power is very advantageous as installation is cheap, no specific landscape is required and so can be placed anywhere and moreover there is an all time (24×7) power production, all which would make this as the major power source in the forthcoming years.

World of Plastic Money

Is a cashless world is possible??? Yes, it may be with the help of debit or credit cards. Though debit cards are safe since people are taking their own money, credit cards only allow us to buy everything we want without money at that time. Thanks to Edward Bellamy, the man who tried the concept of buying things using cards instead of cash. This was in the year of 1887.

In 1920 in order to avoid the mess created by the increasing number of people who put fuel, a card for self fueling is introduced in United States. In 1938, Western Union started to use cards.  In 1950, merchants started to issue cards for their regular customers. In the year of 1958, Bank of America introduced the card which is similar to the modern days’ Visa cards.

Some of the popular credit card brands are Visa, Master card, American Express and Discover. The credit card usually allows the person to revolve his own money. He can buy things in advance and he can payback after sometime. In between the bank will take care about the money and they will pay the merchants. Nowadays the credit cards are mainly issued by local banks and credit unions.

Since credit cards have a very low security value it has to be safely used by the cardholders. Nowadays credit card frauds are very famous. The people will take the xerox of the credit card and if they came to know the controlled payment numbers they can misuse a credit card easily. Nowadays some banks are using rough people to get money from those who are not settling their credit card bill properly.

Where there is more comfort, there will be difficulties too so we have to be very careful while using the modern technologies like credit cards.

Einstein and his theory was so true

Here are some amazing truths that go by the law of relativity… Lets step into the magic world…

For instance, let us take 2 persons travelling in two trains which run in the same speed(say 350 kmph) in the same direction. Here the incredible fact is that even when travelling at such a great speed, one of these persons is actually in rest relative to the other and vice versa. In case if it is in the opposite direction, one is at rest relative to the other and the other is travelling at double the actual speed.. These are really amazing.. Aren’t they..

A ball, which is actually spherical appears to be elliptic  when in motion, the axes of ellipse being dependent on the direction of motion. Another amazing fact is that an object moving at the speed of light becomes weightless (no mass).

Lets take two twin sisters for example.. Consider one of them is going to space and returns decades after.. The one who was in earth would look much older than the one who returned from space. This is the very famous twins theory which has the fact that if 20 years passby in space, 46 years must have passed in earth.

Why is that a large plane looks smaller when going far and far from the earth, how it is that a housefly happens to be in a train travelling at high speed though it doesn’t fly that much faster, and so many questions like these can be asked… All for which relativity concept is the only valid answer.

A very innovative invention in physics, relativity, is such a concept that many still can’t understand what Einstein said almost a century ago.
